Beartooth Equine LLC. offers summertime internships. Our program is a 4-week internship that offers you room & board, 4 weeks of nonstop horseback riding fun, opportunities to learn, challenges that will help you grow, advance your horsemanship skills, deepen your faith with daily team devotionals.
During the summer, Beartooth Christian Camp employs us to guide campers on trail rides. Our interns reside in the dorm-style rooms, located in our barn. Aside from the tack room, general room, stalls, and medication room, there are three additional rooms. One is exclusively for women, another for men, and the third serves as a communal lounge with a TV, couches, a selection of movies, and a small library.
The Bearstooth Building houses the kitchen and shower facilities for interns. It's the central hub of the BCC campus, hosting numerous activities throughout the camp weeks.
The four-week period includes an overlap of one week with the subsequent group. This setup challenges the existing team to mentor the new group arriving for a one-week term, both upon their arrival and the incoming new group in the week before their departure. The new group will spend two weeks on team-building activities within their group before they take on the mentorship role for the following incoming group. For instance, in a summer schedule: Week 1 - interns arrive, followed by two weeks of internship (the same group of interns) with varying age groups of campers. In Week 4, new interns arrive and are mentored by the first group for that week. At week's end, the initial interns leave with a referral letter and a certificate marking the completion of their internship. Subsequently, the current interns have two weeks to bond as a team before they mentor the next set of new interns for a week, after which they too will depart.
During their month-long stay at Beartooth Equine, one of our staff members will accompany the interns. While we prohibit dating or committed relationships during this period, we find it entirely acceptable for interns to exchange phone numbers, social media contacts, or email addresses. Should they wish to pursue a different type of relationship after completing their internship, we trust that it will be both mutual and conducted in an appropriate manner.
We acknowledge that our approach may appear confusing and unorthodox, but it is intentional. Beartooth Equine aims to offer a unique opportunity for numerous young adults. Our experience has shown that interns serving beyond four weeks often experience a sense of "burn-out," feeling exhausted and ceasing to progress in their roles.
Interns are encouraged to request extended stays! While Beartooth Equine might not always have the capacity for longer stays due to the arrival of new interns, there are times when changes in circumstances or unforeseen events may prevent the next intern from arriving.
